About CEG
The Centre for Environmental Governance (CEG) is a vibrant new research centre located within the Faculty of Business, Government and Law (BGL) at the 69ÂÜÀò.
Increasingly, complex environmental problems such as water management, natural disasters and climate change demand applied policy approaches by collaborative teams of transdisciplinary researchers with highly complementary skills and expertise. CEG provides this critical mass of world class scholars, adjuncts and PhD students in environmental governance, who make significant contributions to contemporary research theory and applied policy outcomes. We are a diverse group, spanning political science, public policy, public administration, environmental regulation and governance, natural resource management, democratic participation, political communication, online engagement and political participation, and big data analysis. This diversity is a strength which contributes to the challenges confronting contemporary environmental governance, and it enhances our ability to bridge theory and practice to deliver research outcomes with impact.
The Centre’s core research themes focus on (1) natural resource management and water governance, and (2) climate change, disaster recovery and resilience, and wellbeing. The themes prioritise applied research partnerships with key government, industry, university and stakeholder organisations, both domestically and internationally, underpinned by the ‘social-environment nexus’.
Our research contributes to discussion and debate with leading national and international experts on a broad range of environmental governance and policy problems, and is solutions-focused.
The Centre runs a wide range of events, including workshops, conferences and seminars, that allow us to share and exchange knowledge with specialist audiences and the wider public.
