X-Ray vision: UC Celebrates inaugural Medical Imaging graduates

Katarina Slavich

9 October 2019: More than 1,500 69ÂÜÀò students are graduating this week, as they transition from students to alumni across four graduation ceremonies at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Graduates will celebrate completing their degrees in Health, IT, Law, Education, Arts and Design, and more.

It’s a special milestone for students graduating with a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) and Master of Medical Imaging, the first cohort to graduate since the course was introduced in 2016. These courses are globally recognised and respected qualifications that enable students to pursue a career as a radiographer, mammographer, angiographer and more.

“This Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences (Medical Imaging) and Master of Medical Imaging furthers UC’s focus on career-orientated courses for health professionals to meet local, national and international health workforce needs,” said Professor Michelle Lincoln, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health.

Graduating Medical Imaging student, Jackson Monck said going to University can be a daunting experience, but even more so when taking part in a new course.

“Going away on our first placement was the biggest step up for us,” he said.

“The lecturers were really proud to see us go out there and put our toes in the water.

“Going through with the first group of people was a great experience. We bounced ideas off each other and worked together as a cohort.”

69ÂÜÀò Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Deep Saini, said the University’s biggest achievement and greatest source of pride is its students.

“Our students are the heart and soul of UC, and we wish them well as they move on to make what we believe will be an impressive mark in the working world,” said Professor Saini.

“Graduation ceremonies are an opportunity to reflect on a time of personal growth and learning that forms the foundation of a rewarding career.”
